Case Study: Times Review

 

The Times Review Newsgroup is eastern Long Island’s leading news company, bringing together the newspapers and news sites Suffolk Times (established in 1857), Riverhead News-Review, and Shelter Island Reporter. Since 2011, BlankSlate has been working with the publisher to resdesign their sites on an ongoing basis, keeping them up to date with the latest tools and technologies.

 

One key approach was to make sure that the Times Review sites were responsive and looked great across all devices. This acknowledgement of the prevalence of mobile devices has become crucial to the growth of the Times Review sites: From 2011 to 2014, mobile use has increased to the point where it constitutes 40% of the publisher’s total page views, resulting in an overall growth of 60%. BlankSlate also worked with Times Review management in a strategic advisory role, helping to increase digital revenue through redesigned ad zones and new formats such as sponsored content, native advertising and custom ad units.

 

Additionally, realizing that the North Fork of Long Island needed its own tourism website, BlankSlate helped Times Review conceive and develop Northforker.com. Launched in May 2013, the site has become one of the leading information resources for locals and visitors alike, and currently houses BlankSlate Real Estate, an easy-to-use, real-time listings tool.
